National Grid Sheet Added To The Fleet

National Grid has made great strides toward reducing carbon emissions from its fleet by taking delivery of four leaves, electric vehicles.

The models will be used as a fleet of vehicles for the pool staff in London to drive across town to deliver the new tunnels for a new high voltage power lines in the next eight years.

Lease car National Grid will last four years or 40,000 miles.

Explaining the decision behind the deal, Paul de Jong, safety and sustainability manager, National Grid, said: "We are always interested in finding new ways of working activities in a more sustainable, even in so that staff and materials are transported .

"We wanted to see if electric cars would move around already congested areas in London."

The company had tried other hybrid cars to get off before LEAF.

"Long-emissions during operation, low operating costs, and the size of the interior make it the ideal companion for this world-class engineering," said David Morse, National Grid Naval Operations Manager.
